Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

Short Description: Control the amout of time an inactive user/dial-up session lives before being closed.

Causes Domino to terminate an NRPC connection or session that has been iidle for this amount of time. A session is considered idle if no activity detected. If it is set too low, it may cause the server to have to re-open database server sessions too often. The best setting for this parameter is determined by the server load, numbers of concurrent users on the server, and so on. Note that creating a new session is very CPU expensive; for example, re-using sessions is much more efficient, which is why we have the parameter. The term “Session” also includes server “internal” sessions, such as agents, replicator tasks, server to server and so on, so plan for it!

Default: 4 hours (240).

IBM Recommendation: 30/45 minutes (but never less).
