Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

POP3MarkRead

Short Description: Read Mark behaviour for POP mails.

Description:

Specifies whether POP3 messages should be marked as read after downloading. A value of 1 instructs the server to mark the messages as read.  Default is 0 (messages are marked as unread).

0 - Do not mark POP3 messages as read
1 - Mark POP3 messages as read
2 - the POP3 server will only mark messages as read if the content is retrieved by the POP3 client
3 - which will not mark message as read until after it is successfully sent to client

SPR# JMAZ5SMRU9 - Provide an option for POP3 to only mark mail messages as "read" if the content is actually retrieved via the POP3 server. Prior to this change, if the Notes.ini setting for POP3MarkRead had any non-zero value, the POP3 server would mark a message as read any time the POP3 server opened the message, even if just to satisfy the POP3 LIST command. Now, by setting POP3MarkRead=2, the POP3 server will only mark messages as read if the content is retrieved by the POP3 client (e.g. via the TOP or RETR command).

SPR# SKAI6HG9N6 - Added the Notes.ini variable "POP3MarkRead=3" which will not mark message as read until after it is successfully sent to client. Also added the Notes.ini variable "POP3TOPNoMarkRead" which, when set to 1, and POP3MarkRead=2 or 3, will disable read marking for the TOP command. A fix for this SPR has been developed but is currently undergoing testing. IBM reserves the right to remove this fix from the targeted release if it does not pass quality assurance tests. Please consider this information to be provisional. Do not base irreversible business decisions on this information until this notice has been removed. This SPR is fixed in 7.0.2
