Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

Short Description: Enable/disable the enhanced error dialogs

When you receive an error in a dialog box that contains the 'Search IBM Technotes' button, first do this:

Select the "?" mark in the upper right corner of the dialog. This will open more detailed error information from the local help databases, if the error message has additional documentation. This feature was added in Notes 8.0.

If the local help databases do not provide information useful to your situation, then search for technotes by doing this:

Select the 'Search IBM Technotes' button. Your web browser opens to the Lotus Support site, performs a search based on the error message, and returns Notes/Domino® 8.x technotes that apply to the error. The technotes may or may not apply to the specific issue you are experiencing. If the technotes do not appear to apply to your situation, you can initiate further searches there on the Support site by clicking the "Start a New Search" link in the center of the Support page the button brings you to.

Note: Currently, there may be only one or two technotes in place related to a particular error, and they may refer to specific scenarios that do not apply to your current scenario. Technotes containing the errors and pertaining to previous Notes releases are currently being evaluated and updated for 8.x, if applicable.

To disable the enhanced error dialogs, add the following parameter to the client's Notes.ini file:
