Specifies whether to enable logging to the Console Log file (CONSOLE.LOG, by default).
0: Disable Console Log file logging
1: Enable Console Log file logging
This setting provides several improvements over its predecessor, Debug_Outfile,
which is now effectively obsolete.
Some of the most important improvements are:
- Consistent default file name and location on all platforms. console.log is located
in the data\IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder.
-Automatic renaming of previous console.log files. The previous console.log files
are renamed using the following convention:
More information about the Dynamic Console Logging feature can be found in Lotus
Software Knowledge Base Document #1085072, found at:
To toggle logging to the Console Log file from the server console, use the "start consolelog" and "stop consolelog" commands.
Documentation update (Lotus Notes/Domino 7):
There is new information about the NOTES.INI variable Console_Log_Enabled that supercedes the topic information in the NOTES.INI appendix of the Domino 7 Administrator Help.
- The default for console logging is that it is now enabled, with a minimal 1K log file size.
- If the user later specifies CONSOLE_LOG_ENABLED or enables logging via the server console command, then the default console log size is changed to unlimited (unless CONSOLE_LOG_MAX_KBYTES is set).
There is no kown UI setting for this notes.ini variable. But you can specify this setting in the notes.ini settings tab of the configuration settings document.
