Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

AdminP_MoveMail_Completion_Override

Short Description: The ini variable automatically triggers the completion of the mail file move for any user who has accessed their mail from a browser.

Description:
Problem
The Administration Process (AdminP) request to "Move Mail File" does not complete when initiated from Lotus® Domino® Web Access (iNotes™ Web Access). The request ceases processing after the "Replace Mail File Fields" step. This is because a Lotus Notes® client is needed to authenticate to the Lotus® Domino® server and initiate the update of the Location document of the local name and address book.

This is a problem for customers who use Domino Web Access (DWA) clients exclusively.

Workaround:
The Administrator must manually intervene on the user's behalf to authenticate and allow AdminP to continue processing, and thus delete the mail file from the previous server.
Resolving the problem
An enhancement request to allow DWA users to complete the processing of the AdminP request by being able to authenticate (or to not require any interaction from the user at all), was submitted to Quality Engineering and implemented starting in DWA 7.0.3 and 8.0.
A server-based Notes.ini variable is needed as a part of the implementation; the ini variable automatically triggers the completion of the mail file move for any user who has accessed their mail from a browser. The INI variable checks for the iNotesProfile within the mail file. If it exists, AdminP will continue to process past the "Replace Mail File Fields" request. By default this INI variable is disabled.

ADMINP_MOVEMAIL_COMPLETION_OVERRIDE=

0 or no setting - Indicates that only pure web users will trigger the automatic progression to the Push Changes request.

1 - Indicates that any Web User, or iNotes user who has Connected to their mail file from a browser one or more times will trigger the automatic progression to the Push Changes request.

2 - Indicates that any Web User, or iNotes user who has connected to their mail file from a browser one or more times, and has never connected to a server using a regular notes client will trigger the automatic progression to the Push Change request.

3 - Indicates that all users will trigger the automatic progression to the Push change request. This can be helpful in test situations where Move Mail qualification can be performed without the need to simulate client access (either manually, or using other methods).

The potential side effect for users who use both the Notes client and DWA to access their mail will be the possibility of errors when attempting to open their mail file from the client with stale information in the location record (pre-mail move) AND the user's mail file has been deleted from the "old" server. If the client attempt is done within the 21 day grace period for a move, then the location document will be updated appropriately, so subsequent attempts should be successful. If the attempt is done outside of the 21 day grace period AND the mail file has been deleted from the old server, the user will need to update their client side documents manually. This is no different than cases where a user has more than one workstation and attempts access to a moved mail file on the secondary workstation outside of the grace period.

One suggestion is the administrator can "drop" the user connection after the Replace mail file fields request has been processed. Subsequent authentications would then trigger the update of the location document, and hopefully prevent the error.

Note this will not impact DWA-only users or Notes-only users. The only caveat is when the users are a hybrid of DWA and Notes clients and not authenticated with their client within the 21 day grace period.
