Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

Short Description: Controls the JVM output filename

In Lotus Domino®, the output from the IBM Java Virtual Machine (JVM) environment variables, JavaDump and/or HeapDump, goes to the server console instead of the specified output file. This makes analysis of output data difficult. Because this output goes directly to the server console, it does not finish in a reasonable amount of time and the format is affected by the server console print engine, which in turn, makes the output difficult to read and analyze.

This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# SNIS654KSD and was fixed in IBM JVM 1.3.1 SR9 and IBM JVM 1.4.2 SR4. The Notes/Domino 7.0.2 release ships with the IBM JVM 1.4.2 SR4 version and therefore the issue is resolved in release 7.0.2.

If you haven't yet upgraded, a hotfix is available for this issue. The hotfix adds the following two notes.ini parameters that can be used to control the output files location:

Contact Product Support for more information about obtaining the hotfix.

NOTE: The notes.ini parameters introduced in the hotfixes will not be contained in shipped releases of Notes/Domino.
