Detailed information for the notes.ini Keyword:

Updaters

Short Description: This setting controls the number of Update tasks started when the Domino server is started.

Description:

This setting controls the number of Update tasks started when the Domino server is started. Set this value according to your organization’s requirements. You must shut down and restart the server for this Variable to take effect. The Update task is designed to run in the background and is intended to improve response time and performance by ensuring that when a user opens a database view, the user does not have to wait for it to be indexed.

Note:

Do not remove the Update task from a server. If you do so, the Public Address Book will not be updated. To improve view-indexing performance, you can run multiple Update tasks if your server has adequate CPU power. Doing this can affect server performance and is recommended primarily for multiprocessor machines. On a server with multiple processors, enable a maximum of one Update task per processor

Note 2:

Adding Updaters=x causes multiple instances of the Update task to be loaded. However, it is the Updall task that is doing the FTI rebuild. In this case, this NOTES.INI parameter does not speed up the rebuild.

Default value:
None, although if this Variable is omitted, only a single Update task can run at a time

Syntax:
Updaters=number

Example:
Updaters=1

UI equivalent:
There is no kown UI setting for this notes.ini variable. But you can specify this setting in the notes.ini settings tab of the configuration settings document.
